Videos!! This is so cool!

I have been trying to figure out how to post videos on my blog for so long, and I finally did it! I'm stoked because I have so many funny, weird, random, and strange videos to post.

For the first video, I had to do this one of my best friend Grant. He is so insane and crazy, it's awesome. We have so many memories from growing up in a small town that we'll never forget. I'm his best man in his wedding coming up in May. I can't wait.

So let me explain this video. When it snows in Hood River (the small town in Oregon we are from) there are a million more ways get in trouble than normal. One of our favorites is to get in our cars (especially Grant's... you'll see why) and make sure there isn't a single parking lot without our cars tracks bombarded all over the place. So this is a small sample of the crazy stuff we do. It's great. I can't wait to go home this Christmas and do it all over again. Get ready Grant, it's on.

mexico mexico

Justin (my bro-in-law) came out for a few days to visit us during his Thanksgiving break. Mexico is only about 45 miles from where we live, so yesterday we decided to head down there for a day. We skipped Tijuana and spent most of our time in Ensenada, which was fun. The best part was definitely the tacos... they just don't make them like that in the States. The Mexican ice cream is amazing too. I don't know what they put in it (or rather what they don't put in it!) that makes it so different from American ice cream, but it's way better.

I didn't take many pictures at all, but here are a few snapshots.

It's 3:57 AM and I just spent 13 hours sitting on my butt in front of my computer preparing a huge submission for a stock photo agency (tell you more about that later). Right now I'm waiting for the final DVD's to burn, so I thought I'd just add a bunch of links to my blog during the downtime. If you're bored and need something to do, check out some of my friends websites, or their blogs. They're sweeeet.

And this picture has nothing to do with anything, but I don't like doing a post without at least one picture. I took it yesterday from my apartments balcony. I kinda like it because it reminds me of the days when I was a teenager with nothing to do and no responsibilities. Those were fun times.

my very blonde moment

Last weekend Bethany and I went up to Santa Barbara to visit some friends and move the very last of our stuff to San Diego. It was a fun little trip, I got to shoot night photos and fire off illegal fireworks at the beach till 3 in the morning with a buddy of mine. Bethany hung out with her girlfriends and talked and talked and talked, talked some more, and... well... never stopped talking. What else to women do when they get together? They just talk.
So I was just looking through my snapshots from our weekend and I came across this photo and it made me laugh.



Here's the story-
We were downtown killing some time at a bookstore when I suddenly remembered that I parked my car in 75 minute parking, and it had been there at least 2 hours. So I ran back to the car. Sweet, no parking ticket. Reach in my pocket... Crap! No keys! I locked them in the car!
Hmmm, what to do...? No friends with Triple A, no cracked open windows, no spare key.... HEY WAIT! What about that little key thing I taped to the bottom of the car like 5 years ago?? I get on the ground under the car, low and behold, there it was! I couldn't believe my eyes because I put that thing down there sooo long ago and had never remembered about it. I thought about all the times in the past 5 years I had waited hours and hours for Triple A to come out and unlock my car. Probably 5 or 6 different times! I felt so lame now, knowing that there was a key down there that whole time! At least all those times I happened to have a friend present who had Triple A, so it was free. But still, that is probably one of the all time dumbest things I've ever done.

my crazy new self portraits

Our trip to the desert was AWESOME, we had so much fun. I'll try to post up some pics soon.

But for now, I want to show you some pics from this crazy idea I had over the weekend. I was standing in the middle of this dirt field in the desert, and I thought, "I going to throw my camera into the air and attempt to get a self-portrait while the camera is in mid-air". Ya I know it's stupid to throw my camera 20 feet in the air and try to catch it, but I'll do just about anything to get a fun photo. It's kinda scary.

So after about 30 times of throwing it in the air and getting horrible pictures of dirt and sky (instead of me) I finally figured out the trick, but I'm not telling it! If you try this yourself (which I don't really recommend if you like your camera, or your uncoordinated) then you might be able to figure out the trick...

Here are some of the first successful mid-air pics:





I took the photo below in Death Valley on a huge salt bed. The salt bed had about an inch of water on it from the rain, but it looked like this huge deep lake. It was so cool. Of course I had to try out my new trick on the salt bed. It's funny because the salt looks like snow, but it was 95 degrees out!

These last few photos I took on a dry lakebed, the texture was really cool looking. I look kinda nervous in these photos, and rightfully so because this time I was throwing my $1,500 camera with a $700 lens in the air. If I messed up, it would have been a $2,200 mistake! We'll see how long my cameras last if I keep this up...
